INN Collaborates to Organize the 7th ICNAM

In line with the implementation of the cooperation mechanism during the first and second weeks of Iran-Iraq Science, the 7th International Conference on Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, and Their Applications (7th ICNAM) was held through the joint collaboration of the University of Technology, Iraq, the Materials and Energy Research Center (MERC) of Iran, and the Inter-Islamic Network on Nano-Technology (INN).

According to the Secretariat, during this two-day event, Dr. Abolhassan Imani, Secretary of INN and International Director of MERC, and Dr. Shaker Hajati, Deputy of Research and Graduate Studies at MERC, represented the INN Network.

The conference program included the opening keynote speech by Dr. Shaker Hajati, meetings and discussions with the President of the University of Technology, Iraq, the deans of the Chemistry and Materials faculties, directors of the Nano and Advanced Materials departments, as well as visits to the university’s laboratories. In part of these discussions, Dr. Abolhassan Imani presented a summary of the activities and vision of the INN and MERC.

As part of this two-day program, with a focus on supporting innovation, two faculty members from MERC also presented their papers online simultaneously.

Dr. Seyed Amirhossein Zamzamian, in Hall 1 of the Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Research Center, presented his paper in a session on Nanomaterials titled “Experimental Investigation of Combustion Properties of Hybrid Nano-Fuel Based on Manganese Oxide and Grapheme Oxide Nanoparticles in Diesel Fuel.” Dr. Monireh Ganjali, in Hall 3 of the Materials Engineering Faculty, presented her paper in a session on Corrosion Studies titled “Microstructure Optimization and Corrosion Resistance Enhancement in Ti-6Al-4V via Laser-deposited TiC Coating.”

In line with this, papers submitted by researchers from the United States, Malaysia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Saudi Arabia, India, and Iraq were reviewed by the conference’s organized scientific committee. Selected papers will also be published in the international scientific journals of MERC.

According to the report, at the closing ceremony, attended by the Iraqi Vice President for Science, several vice presidents and senior managers of the University of Technology, Iraq, and participating researchers, Professor Dr. Khalid Ajami, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology, Iraq, acknowledged the global second-place ranking and leading position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in nanotechnology on the international stage and honored the participation of Iranian researchers with the conference medal and certificate of appreciation.

He also described the organization of this event as an important step in the University of Technology, Iraq’s continued commitment to leading scientific research in nanotechnology in Iraq and highlighted the achievements of this joint conference as follows:

Focusing on applied research in nanotechnology and advanced materials to encourage practical solutions to current challenges in the fields of environment, energy, and public health

Supporting joint research projects between Iraqi, Arab, and international universities to strengthen technology transfer and localization

Initiating the integration of nanotechnology and advanced materials into undergraduate and graduate curricula at the University of Technology, Iraq

Expanding programs and training workshops for students and young researchers in nanotechnology laboratories in Iraq

Promoting academic and scientific exchange programs between universities and international research centers

Strengthening industry collaboration to apply research results in the fields of energy, water, environment, and medicine

Increasing public awareness of the benefits and safety of nanomaterials through seminars and educational campaigns

This event, featuring keynote speakers from Iran, Saudi Arabia, India, and Iraq, was held on Monday and Tuesday, September 8-9, 2025, at the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq.

Notably, the INN Network is an international platform for leveraging the power of science and technology to support inclusive empowerment. The Network strives to provide a dynamic platform for countries to achieve growth, progress, and a knowledge-based economy by fostering collaboration between elites, professors, researchers, universities, research institutes, and knowledge-based companies.

This international platform is one of the thirteen scientific networks affiliated with COMSTECH, and it is hosted by the MERC under the MSRT of Iran.
